FIFA : WORLD CUP 2022 ADDITIONAL CONTENT

Overview: GHM&D was very lucky to be asked by the team at IMG and HBS to help out on this years 2022 FIFA World Cup based in Qatar. Not only was it a great experience to work and see a living and breathing World Cup, it was a first experience at travelling abroad for Motion Design.

GHM&D was situated within ‘Additional Content’, supporting the editors and creating graphics and templates for pieces based around the individual teams, players, their staff and the tournaments highlights.

Often we were approached on the day to provide quick turnaround MGFX for fun activites the players participated in, or overlaying graphics on footage to highlight goals, saves and celebrations as well as the odd promotional piece. Most of the graphics created were in and out the door the same day, and so each piece only had a matter of hours to be designed, animated and exported.

It was a test of both our creative skills, time efficiency as well as managing expectations to deliver under pressure an enjoyable and entertaining piece. Without access to the internet, we only had Getty Images and a few stock pieces, so it really pushed us to rely on our inspiration and design skills. Especially when work over the past year has been mostly 3D orientated, so the shift back into 2D driven work was a testament to our broad skillset and ability to adapt (although we did manage to sneak in some c4d pieces).

It was a fantastic experience, meeting some wonderfull people that we were very fortunate to have worked with. We truly hope this will provide a blossoming relationship and will encourgae them to seek our help for all sporting tournaments going into the future…

The team did a fantastic job, and the hosts really did lay on a ‘once in a lifetime’ tournament, something we will never forget.
