NML : Logo animation
Overview: I was approached by the guys at Frantic to help create some logo animations for the National Museum of Liverpool. These logo animations were designed to reflect the aesthetic of the gallery they were representing by incorporating the NML logo.
Whilst not having a huge amount of experience with fluids in X-Particles, we helped to create what can be seen below.
The paint effect worked really well, and whilst the maritime water simulations looked great, the guys wanted us to move onto a music driven design as time was tight. This was built as a realsitc spinning vinyl that included the NML logo. We created the grooves in after effects using shape layers and noise, these were then dropped into Cinema 4D and redshift and used as a displacement layer.
It was a tricky project to undertake due to our limited experience with fluids (which are something we’ve found to be very hit and miss in both results and the length of time it can take to curate them) but we personally were happy with our results nonetheless.
Unfortunately we dont think our elements were used by the client, but the finals can be found on Frantics website here : https://www.wearefrantic.com/portfolio/national-museums-liverpool/
Since then for a little bit of experience and personal pride we have returned to the project to finish off the ‘un-finished’ animations. Spending another day or so we really took the look further, adding in camera cuts, as well as situating within a scene.
